My classmate's wedding...

Well... after a looong time I got to attend the 'muhurtham' of a classmate's wedding. Else its usually been only Receptions that I attend, after working hours-where all guests take turns to pose next to the newly-wed couple for photos and video(Really boring!).

This was a very different experience as the bride was of my age and my perspective of witnessing the wedding was different from what it had been from the past. Now I can understand many of the rituals in the wedding and how much responsibility the whole event comes along with...

Being a girl I do understand that the whole idea of leaving the household one grew up in, to move into an entirely new family does shake one up and takes an effort to accustom oneself to it. But what I saw showed the gravity of it all... The bride started growing a li'l dull in the face when her gothram was changed... eventually there was a steady stream of tears flowing from her eyes when the mangalsutra was tied. This led to the shedding of tears by her parents and her younger brother too. Well, the groom was smart enough to offer her a chewing gum to soothe her. It worked :)

It led me to think that I'd probably be facing the same situation some time in life. Yet I also wonder if this is how every girl will take it...

Let me witness some more weddings - will investigate on this psychology, rather 'emotinal attack' and update u guys ;)
